| Director’s Note In eighth grade, I had a
wonderful pair of teachers, Ms. Huntley and Mr. Petrarca. In
their English and Social Studies classes, we spent an
extensive period of time on World War II and the Holocaust,
and in this unit we read the Goodrich and Hackett version of
“The Diary of Anne Frank” play. I knew instantly that I wanted
to be a part of a production of this show – more specifically,
I wanted to direct this show. So, I stole the text book
containing the script from Ms. Huntley’s English class, and
began to retype it. Now, almost four years later, I am finally
getting to fulfill this huge dream I created in eighth grade.
So, there are a million and one people to thank for helping me
get to this point, after years of planning. First and
foremost, I have to thank my Capstone mentor, Linda Vars,
for helping me solve every problem along the way and helping
me clean up the show and make it audience-ready in the past
week. Then there is Kevin Zahm, who printed my
scripts, flyers and programs and helped calm most of my
anxieties in connection to the show. Also, Jennifer
Vaillancourt and my mother, Nicole Vanasse, for
their support and encouragement throughout this process. Next
there is the Middletown Public Library for allowing me
to use their meeting room to hold rehearsal over the last four
months. A huge thank you goes out to this amazing cast,
whom I love very much for giving their all to me over the
rehearsal process. And lastly, I’d like to thank Ms.
Huntley for introducing me to this play and not jumping
on stage after reading this to yell at me for stealing the
book, and Mr. Petrarca for instilling a love of
history in me. Oh, and there is one more group of people to
thank about, everyone who came out tonight to support me
                    and my Capstone, THANK
YOU ALL SO MUCH! | ||
