From the 1966 Yearbook:

"The famous Gilbert and Sullivan musical, H. M. S. Pinafore, was presented by the music department of Middletown High. A proper British sea captain of the mighty ship Pinafore, the right clever Sir Joseph Porter K.C.B., Admiral of the Queen's Navee, and a bevy of blushing sisters, cousins, and aunts added to the fun of this rollicking comedy. The production was a complete success under the capable direction of Miss Ann Gardella who spent endless hours on the musical." - from the 1966 yearbook

From the Program:

ACT I - Ralph Rackstraw, a common sailor, has fallen in love with his Captain's daughter, Josephine.  Sir Joseph Porter, of the Roayl Navy, who also seeks the hand of Josephine, visits the Pinafore for an interview with her and her father.  The interview proves unsuccessful.  As the act closes, Ralph and Josephine agree to steal away that very night to get married.

ACT II - Sir Joseph Porter informs the Captain that Josephine "does not take kindly" to his wooing.  Dick Deadeye, a sailor, tells the Captain of the intended elopement of Ralph and Josephine.  They both lie in wait and surprise the eloping couple and the crew.  Ralph is lead to a dungeon.  Soon, buttercup, a peddler woman, arrives on the scene and explains that "Ralph is really the Captain and the Captain is really Ralph."  The operetta ends with a rousing chorus as three couples preprare for their weddings on the morrow:  Ralph and Josephine; Sir Joseph and his cousin Hebe; Captain Corcoran and Buttercup.
